The liver is one of the most important organs to keep clean and healthy. Responsible for filtering the blood and removing toxins from the body, the liver can become overburdened, stressed, and unhealthy due to a lifetime of toxic accumulation. The purpose of a liver flush is to release gallstones that have accumulated in the liver and gallbladder. A liver flush is recommended 1-3 times a year, depending on your overall health and lifestyle. Here is the protocol for a gentle and effective liver flush. This will require 2 days to do, and it is advised not to schedule any other activities for the duration of the 2 days. The liver flush is only to be performed once the skin and intestinal cleanse has been implemented for at least 2 weeks.
Preparation For Liver Flush
-Skin and intestinal cleanse.
-A week of eating a low fat diet (only good fats such as coconut, olive, flax, and sunflower oil in moderation) as well as no sugar, dairy, or gluten
-A week of taking Now Brand Liver Detoxifier and Regenerator Formula— follow the directions on the bottle.
-In addition to cleansing the intestines, give yourself at least a week of taking bentonite clay and psyllium husk to clean out intestines before the liver flush (take the clay 1 week leading up to the flush, giving yourself 48 hours between the last bentonite clay dosage and the first day of the flush)
-Continue taking MSM and vitamin C and Jarrow Mushroom Optimizer
What You Will Need For the Liver Flush
-2 days time (one for the flush, one day to recuperate)
-4-5 organic lemons
-1-2 liters fresh pressed vegetable juice (refer to “juicing” page under “healing leaky gut” page)
-1 bag of Magnesium Sulfate, or Magnesium Chloride (to be used as a laxative).
-4 ounces of organic olive oil
-Fresh spring water or reverse osmosis (R.O.) water
-Enema kit (optional)
-Now Brand Liver Detoxifier and Regenerator Formula
Day 1 of the Liver Flush
The first day of the flush do not eat any solid food. Only juice and water are to be consumed during the day. Start the day with 1 liter of spring water with 2000 milligrams of MSM. An hour later have your first glass of vegetable juice (being sure to completely remove any pulp from the juice). Drink juice only up until 12 noon, then switch over to water for the next two hours. At 2pm have your first serving of the laxative solution (magnesium sulfate or magnesium chloride–described below).
-Laxative solution–at 2pm dissolve 1 teaspoon of either the magnesium sulfate or magnesium chloride into 1 liter of water. Continue drinking 1 liter of water with 1 teaspoon of the laxative solution every hour until you begin to get loose stool. You may also use the enema kit to help clear out your intestines if you so desire. Once your stool is completely watery, switch back to plain spring water or R.O. water. You may drink herbal teas throughout the day in addition to water. But absolutely NO solid food of any kind.
-By 8 pm have your last liquids for the day. At this point you should have had many bowel movements, to the point of mostly water being excreted.
-Between 9 and 10pm, prepare the olive oil and lemon juice mixture– Combine 4 ounces of olive oil into a jar with a lid, adding 150 millileters of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the olive oil. Secure the lid on the jar and shake vigorously to thoroughly combine the olive oil and lemon juice. Drink the mixture right before going to bed. Lie down on your right side when drifting off to sleep. Do not watch any stimulating movies, or listen to any stimulating music.
Day 2 of Liver Flush
Upon rising on day 2, immediately drink 1 liter of water with 1 teaspoon of magnesium sulfate or magnesium chloride dissolved in the water. This will keep the body from absorbing any of the toxins released in the form of gallstones. Continue drinking lots of spring water until your first bowel movement. Do NOT eat any solid food until later in the day after you have begun passing the gallstones. Your first or second bowel movement should begin expelling gallstones (which will look like hardened green, grey, and black stones). It is common to release hundreds of stones over the course of a few hours. Some people will continue releasing gallstones in their stool for a day or two following the flush. Be sure to relax and take it easy on day 2, being sure not to do any exercise or strenuous or stressful activities.
-After you have passed a significant amount of gallstones drink a glass of vegetable juice and wait 2 hours. Have a light dinner of salad, or lightly cooked vegetables and small amounts of protein or fat. Do not overeat on the second day–as this can tax and stress out your liver after this delicate cleansing process. Day 3 you can return to your regular diet with the exception of reducing your protein and fat intake. For a few days following the liver flush reduce fat intake, and by day 5, return to your normal diet.
