I offer my services intuitively, feeling what will best be received for each person in each session. With an energy of compassion, kindness, and openness, a safe container is created for each person to find their voice, tell their story, and begin regaining balance in their life.
My counseling approach has been influenced by my training as a marriage and family therapist, my spiritual path, and by my own experience of healing. My approach is a blend of Transpersonal psychology, and Humanistic psychology, as well as many years of exploring nutrition, alternative forms of therapy, and healing.
The Foundation of my practice is built around my understanding of the interconnectedness of all of life. This understanding may best be described by the principals of Quantum Physics, which views all of life as energy. This energy (also called Qi, Prana, Mana, and Pneuma) flows through all physical matter. Each one of us represents a unique expression of this energy. Many of us have learned patterns of thought and emotion that limits our experience of this energy and from life around us. This self created illusion of separation is at the heart of all negative states of being, of all illness and disease.
We can “unlearn” beliefs that keep us feeling separate by becoming aware of them, and by redirecting our attention back towards love, positivity, and wholeness. When we do, we begin to change how we think, feel, and act, allowing us to reconnect with the flow of Life within and around us, creating more balance, happiness and joy in our lives.
The three main areas in which this life energy flows, and the focus for holistic counseling are: the mind, emotions, and body. By exploring the deeper thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns associated with the imbalance in our lives, we can gain greater self awareness, allowing the opportunity to change how we direct our energy, and consequently, change how we experience our lives.
A typical session may involve traditional talk therapy, guided meditation, visualizations, as well as movement and art therapy. I often incorporate tools and techniques for increased self awareness that one can integrate into their daily life. These include mindful awareness practices, nutritional guidance, healing meditation, daily intentions, and mantras for healing. The focus of holistic counseling often involves allowing repressed emotions to surface, as well as identifying and releasing outdated patterns of behaviors, beliefs, and emotional reactions. This is a gentle process that focuses on the energy of acceptance, compassion and love.
The process of understanding how this energy healing occurs does not come by reading about it, but rather, through the process of direct experience. Through mindful awareness practices and meditation we can learn to feel the energy flowing within us, and learn to direct it in a more conscious and loving way. This process of spiritual healing is ongoing, as we continue to uncover more of our authentic selves.
