Aluminum toxicity has been linked to Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, both of which are degenerative and chronic conditions effecting millions of people worldwide.  In addition, aluminum toxicity can cause confusion, muscle weakness, speech problems, anemia, seizures, and can inhibit growth in children.  By performing regular aluminum detoxes, you can reduce the likelihood of experiencing any of these symptoms or diseases.  The following steps outline how to rid yourself from aluminum in an efficient manner.

1.  Remove Aluminum From Your Environment

The first step to performing an aluminum detox is to make sure that all sources of aluminum are no longer entering your body.  Some possible sources of aluminum toxicity are aluminum cookware, antiperspirants, processed foods, antacids, certain brands of baking powder, industrial chemicals, vaccinations, aluminum cans, aluminum foil, pesticides, some hygienic products such as anti-dandruff shampoos, tooth whitening products, as well as tap water.  Do an inventory throughout your home and work environment, looking for potential sources of aluminum.  Read labels on processed foods carefully, avoiding any products which may contain aluminum, such as processed pizza and cookie dough, self rising flour, coffee creamers, cake mixes, and sliced cheese.

2.  Foods That Chelate Aluminum

There are numerous foods that you can add to your diet which will bind with aluminum particles and help to draw them out of your body.  This process is known as chelation, and occurs slowly over time.  Incorporate the following chelating foods into your diet: apples, fresh squeezed lemon juice, garlic, onions, carrot juice, cabbage, and cilantro.  Herbs and vitamins that help chelate aluminum are: blue green algae such as chlorella, turmeric, vitamin C, malic acid and pectin (commonly found in apple cider vinegar), MSM, magnesium, and coriander.

3.  Infrared Sauna

An effective method for removing many heavy metals, including aluminum, is undergoing regular infrared sauna sessions.  The ultraviolet rays from the sauna penetrate beyond the surface layers of skin into the subcutaneous layers of fat (where heavy metals such as aluminum are stored).  The body's natural method for temperature regulation pushes blood to the surface of the skin helping to flush out toxins from fatty tissue through sweat.  Infrared saunas can also help boost the immune system, kill off harmful bacteria in the body, and improve circulation.

4.  Epsom Salt Bath

Epsom salt baths are an effective way to help draw heavy metals out of the body.  Similar to the infrared sauna, hot baths get the body sweating, drawing toxins out of the fatty tissue beneath the skin.  Adding epsom salt to bath water is a particularly effective way to aid the body in detoxification.  High in magnesium, epsom salts help the body's natural detoxification processes, and provide essential minerals necessary for cleansing heavy metals from the body.  Try adding 2-3 cups of epsom salt to hot bath water.  Allow yourself to soak in the water for at least 15 minutes for your body to absorb the magnesium sulfate and thoroughly sweat out any toxins.

Ridding the body of aluminum and other heavy metals can be crucial in protecting your health.  Take the proper steps to protect the health of yourself and your family.  To determine if you have aluminum toxicity consult with your doctor about getting the proper tests.  Aluminum toxicity can be detected through blood and urine tests.  It is best to perform any detox under the guidance of a trained health practitioner or naturopath, particularly if you are currently experiencing any health conditions.

As many as 60 percent of patients admitted to nursing homes have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.  It is estimated more than 5 million Americans currently have Alzheimer's disease, and that the rate of diagnoses is expected to rise significantly in the coming years.
